Funeral services for Phillip Allan Griffith, 82, of Danville, will be held at 10 a.m. April 6 at the Hazelwood Christian Church, where he was a member, with a military graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. in Dugger, IN Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Phil was born in Sullivan County and grew up in Dugger. He was a son of Murray and Mildred (Allan) Griffith. He graduated in 1953 from Union High School where he was an All-State Conference center in football. He married Kay McGhee Sept. 23, 1956. Phil had been employed at Hendricks County REMC for 54 years in may areas before retiring. He also served in elective offices of the REMC Indiana Statewide Superintendents Association. Phil also served his country in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Kay; daughters Deborah (Steve May of Plainfield, Angela (Tom) Taylor and Sherrie Armour of Clayton, Darla (Kent) Nelson of Parker, CO. He was also loved and blessed by his 8 grandchildren and 9 great granddaughters as well as his sister, Marilyn Bohnert of Dugger.
Because children were such a joy in his life, contributions may be given to the Hazelwood Christian Church/Youth & Children's Ministries Program at 9947 S. C.R. 0, Clayton, 46118.
