James W. "Jim" Adams, age 85, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2016 at his home in Morgantown. He was a former resident of Plainfield.
Jim was born on September 2, 1931, in Beech Grove, to the late James and Anna Liza (Stamper) Adams. He was a 1942 graduate of Emmerich Manuel High School in Indianapolis and went on to serve as a Petty Officer Second Class with the United States Navy on the USS LST 859 during the Korean War.
Jim retired in 2005 as a Project Manager for ERMCO in Indianapolis after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Martinsville and formerly of Plainfield and the IBEW Local 481 in Indianapolis. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, wood working and listening to jazz music. Jim also enjoyed photography, spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, "Benny."
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Maria R. (Adams) Adams, whom he married on December 10, 1982 in Indianapolis; children, Larry (Susan) Adams and Bret (Susan) Adams both of Indianapolis, Marcie (Monte) Sebastian of New Whiteland, Debrah Daniels of Nineveh, Steve (Estefania) Eaton of Sevierville, Tennessee and Amanda Chapman of Morgantown; 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam Adams; son, James E. Adams; siblings, Stella Melich, Larry, Jett and Joseph Carter Adams.
Bro. Chuck Oliver will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 201 N. Eastview Drive in Franklin. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. A graveside service with military rites will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
