Grace Roselyn "Rosie" (Baugh) Kerlin, 82, passed away April 21 at home.
She was born in Evansville on April 30, 1934, to Ida Rachel (Taylor) and Floyd O. Baugh, who preceded her in death along with her sister, Rowena Price, of Flushing, MI.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Joseph C. Kerlin, Danville, as well as her four daughters: M. Rebecca Haak, M.D. of Danville; Beth (Brad) Toben of Waco, TX; Mary Ann Alexander of Phoenix, AZ and Lynn (Scott) Sternberg of Tujunga, CA. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. David (Sharilyn) Baugh of Danville and sister, Rachel (Craig) Mulcahy of Lincoln, NE, as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, two nieces and four nephews.
An elementary teacher by professional Rosie taught in Hartford City, Martinsville, Speedway and Danville. She also taught homebound Pima Indian children from 1962-66. She loved teaching and being an educator, always to committed to life-long learning. She served on the Board of School Trustrees of Danville School Corporation for 21 years, and on the Board pf Trustees for Taylor University, Upland. She was Chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Taylor Board for many years and has the honor of being the only female ever to serve as Board Chairman.
She was a committed Christian, and enjoyed serving her family, opening her home to others, supplying love, good cheer and food. She served the Danville Community as President of YAR Board and President of Community College Board. She was proud to be a member of Tri Kappa.
Visiting hours will be at the Westbridge Church on Mackey Road, Danville, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 25 with celebration of the service afterward - Pastor Ron McDugle officiating.
