WILLIAM "BILL" J. COMPTON, husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, Athletic Director and Town of Pittsboro employee passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Pittsboro. He was 74.
Bill was born in Orleans on February 12, 1943 to Willis Eugene and Deema M. (Tolbert) Compton. He graduated from Orleans High School in 1961, then attended and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Indiana State University in 1965. Bill also received his Master's degree from ISU. He began his teaching career at Pittsboro H.S. in 1965 where he taught social studies and coached multiple sports. After the consolidation to create Tri-West Hendricks H.S., Bill's teaching and coaching continued moving onto his position of Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach. He retired after 44 years in 2009.
In 1966 he met and married Judith A. (Pearcy) Compton. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August 2016.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Brett Compton of Noblesville, Chad Compton of Pittsboro; 3 Grandsons; Brother, Barry Compton of Orleans.
The Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., Tri-West High School gymnasium, Lizton. Doors will open for seating at 1:00 p.m. prior to the start of the Service. Condolences and greeting may be expressed to the family following the Service.
