Thelma Louise Fortner Meadows, 88, of Avon, IN passed away November 26, 2016. She was born July 3, 1928 in Hagler, IL to Dessie Ruby Larrance Fortner and Clay Cortland Fortner. Thelma married Norman Brewer Meadows December 21, 1946 and celebrated their 60th anniversary before Norman passed away. Thelma lived the majority of her life in Danville, IL.
Thelma had 3 children, Phyllis Jo Ann Charles (Nashville, TN), Norman Clay Meadows (IL), and Pandy Lynn Cutkomp (Avon, IN).She had 4 grandchildren (Robin, Pandi, Zachary, and Jacob) and 2 great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Joshua.
Thelma and Norman loved to travel, while the children were young they're favorite destination was Miami, Florida. Prior to retirement, they purchased a motor home and traveled the US from coast to coast numerous times, Dad driving, Mom navigating.
Although Thelma worked a short time in a shoe factory and at Continental Can, her passion was in being a representative for Tammy jewelry. She and her husband were members of the Navy Club in Danville, IL and members of the America Legion in Avon, IN.
All who knew Thelma were aware of her love for animals and she had a variety of pets she looked after, her Pekinese dog, French Lop rabbit, tropical fish and especially her multitude of cats.
Although she outlived most of her generation she will be missed by her family and by those who knew her and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2016 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
