Ruth Doyne Summerlot, 80, of Danville, passed away February 17, 2017. She was born July 12, 1936 in Indianapolis the daughter of the late Alfred and Rita Walter McClain. She was a secretary for different local offices. Ruth was a volunteer for Sheltering Wings and for Faith In Action where she transported patients for medical treatment. She was a member of Avon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband David R. Summerlot, daughter Rhonda Boles, and brother Dan McClain. She is survived by a son Rick (Phyllis) Summerlot; son in law James Clough; sisters in law Lillis Summerlot, Kathleen Summerlot, and Janet Wiggins; grandchildren JoAnn (Chris) Ratliff, Ricky (Mandi) Summerlot II, Karla (Chris) Quick, David (Ann) Boles, Ellen Clough, and Grace Clough; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday February 23, 2017 at Avon United Methodist Church with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel and at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Alzheimers Foundation, or Sheltering Wings.
