Ronald's Story

Ronald G. "Ron" Reed, 75, of New Winchester, died May 9. Ron was born April 18, 1942 in Scottsburg to Ralph P. and Jessie A. (Gates) Reed. He graduated from new Winchester High School in 1960. Ron married Jo Ellen Harmless May 5, 1962. She survives. He had been a tool engineer at Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Ron was a member of Whitestone Christian Church, of which he served as a deacon. He was a past master of the former Groveland Masonic Lodge #542, now affiliated with Greencastle Masonic Lodge #47. He also served as past worthy patron of former Groveland O.E.S. Chapter #330, as well as a past associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel #106, Bainbridge. Services will be held at 11 a.m. May 16 at Whitestone Christian Church, located seven miles west of Danville on U.S. 36, with visitation from 4-8 p.m. May 15. Burial will take place in New Winchester Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jo Ellen; son Joe Allen (Pamela) Reed of Avon; daughter Ronda Gale (Dan) Prather of Danville; adopted children and their children Rick (Lisa) Gibson of Coatesville; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Merrell E. (Sandy) Reed of Homosassa Springs, FL; and sister Sheliah F. (Joe) Kinnaman of Avon. Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home Danville entrusted with the arrangements.
