Robert's Story

Robert Lee Keck, 84 of Roachdale, passed away at The Village of Avon on Monday, May 14, 2018. Born October 31, 1933 at Roachdale. He was the son of Estel and Mildred (Spencer) Keck. He graduated from Roachdale High School with the class of 1951 and married Carol (Hays) Keck on October 22, 1954. She survives.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 being stationed in Alaska. He was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church where he served as elder. He was a charter member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School class. At church he was known as the Candyman. Bob worked at Allison Division, General Motors for 40 years. He was an auctioneer in the surrounding communities for many years. After retirement he worked at Kroger, Danville, Ind for 20 years. He was known as the friendly bagger. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, having visited all 50 states.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, his son Bryant (Teresa) Keck of Greencastle; his daughters, Brenda (Steve) Jones of Roachdale and Laura (Gordon) Eggers of Avon; two brothers Richard and Raymond both of Roachdale, and a sister Marjorie Bachert of Roachdale; eight grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Roachdale Christian Church, 1 North Walnut Street, Roachdale, Indiana 46172. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 PM 8:00 PM at the church.
