Philip D. Shawver, 89, of Plainfield, IN passed away on September 16, 2017 at Avon Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 29, 1928 in Bloomington, IN to the late Byron H. Shawver and Pauline (Legge) Shawver. He was a 1945 graduate of Bloomington South High School, a 1948 graduate of Indiana University School of Business, and also received his Master's degree in 1964. He worked as an accountant for the Stewart Warner Corporation of Indianapolis from 1954 to 1995. Phil also was an Air Force Veteran serving stateside from 1952-1954 at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, IN. Phil and his first wife, Carolyn (deceased), lived in Danville, IN from 1954 to 1975 when they moved to Plainfield. He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Bloomington and Plainfield Masonic Lodges, and a member of the National Association of Accountants during his working years. After retirement he enjoyed bird watching, bicycling, volunteering at the Plainfield public library, and watching IU football and basketball. He attended most all IU football home games from 1979 to 2014, usually wearing all red clothing head to toe.
Phil was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn (Callahan) Shawver in 2002, his brother Paul Gilbert (P.G.) Shawver in 1998 and his daughter A. Gail Clark in 2016. He is survived by his second wife of 14 years, E. Anita (Richhart) of Plainfield, daughter Betsy (Scott) Friedenberg of Greenfield, IN, sister Susan (Tom) Leonard of Mt. Horeb, WI, 5 granddaughters: April (Jared) Manning of New Palestine, IN, Kristin Rennels of Chicago, IL, Abigail (Reid) Klaehn of Zionsville, IN, Karen Clark of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Chloe Clark of Nashville, TN, and 2 great-granddaughters: Aubrey Manning and Rosalind Klaehn.
The family would like to thank the staff of Avon Health and Rehab and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care of Phil over the last 2 months of his life.

Visitation for Phil will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Plainfield United Methodist Church, 600 Simmons St. from 10 a.m. to Noon with funeral service immediately following.
