Mary Lou's Story
Mrs. Mary Lou Brown, 88, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Zionsville Meadows in Zionsville, Indiana. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 29, 1927, a daughter of the late Oliver Ossmyn Laughlin and Clara Ethel (McCord) Laughlin.
Mary Lou was a 1946 Graduate of Shortridge High School.
In Danville, Indiana she was married on October 27, 1950, to William Dee Brown. Mr. Brown passed away on October 1, 2006.
Mary Lou had worked for various department stores, including Nick Kerz, Sears and LS Ayres. She then worked for Farm Bureau Insurance. In 1981, Mary Lou was elected Brown Township Trustee and Assessor and served two terms before retiring. While she was trustee she purchased the land that is now the Brownsburg Fire Territory Station 132.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary Lou loved her family, and enjoyed being a homemaker for several years. She was a well-known and accomplished pen and ink artist in Central Indiana. She also was a Ham radio operator.
Mary Lous was a member of the Eastern Star Homemaker's Club.
Private Family Services are to be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana.
Interment will follow.
She is survived by two Daughters, Deborah S. (Michael) Richard and Rebecca L. (Glen) Dalrymple; grandchildren Darlene S. (Kevin) Myers, Andrew J. (Deven) Richard, Sarah J. (Patrick) Dorian, Stuart K. Dalrymple; great grandchildren, Megan, Chloe, Austin, William and Ramona.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by a son, William Dennis Brown; a sister, Frances Lucille Wells and brothers, Joseph David Laughlin and Ernest Edmond Laughlin.
