Jerry Dean Girton, 62, of Fillmore passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Hendricks Regional Hospital.
Jerry was born in Greencastle on December 25, 1954, the son of Richard E. and Peggy L. (Arnold) Girton, and was a graduate of Plainfield High School in 1973. He also attended Indiana University.
Mr. Girton worked for 32 years at Rexnord/Linkbelt until his retirement in 2006. He came out of retirement to work at Kuehne + Nagel Incorporated until his retirement in 2016. Jerry was a member of Elks Lodge # 1077 for 29 years where he served as past Secretary-Treasurer and currently served as Esteemed Lecturing Knight. He was also a member of American Legion Post #58.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Vicki Girton; a son, Jason Bradley Girton, Plainfield; a granddaughter, Ashlon Girton; and many special friends that he loved like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two uncles, Charles Phillips and Larry Arnold; an aunt, Betty L. Arnold; a Cousin, Dana Arnold; and his mother-in-law, Peggy O'Hair.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fillmore Cemetery. Friends may call at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
