James H. "Jim" Summers, 85, of Avon, died Nov. 22, 2016, at his home. Jim was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Indianapolis to Harry W. and Martha W. (Obenchain) Summers. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Jim married Mary Love Clodfelter of Greencastle in 1950. He then married Darlene Sue (Wallace) Sisk in 1976. He was the director of operations for the Danville Community School Corp. but transportation from 1975-1996. Him was a member of the Danville Christian Church, the Danville Masonic Lodge #26, past member of the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge #75, the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Valley and the Murat Shrine.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 at Danville Christian Church with visitation from noon until time of service. Contributions may be given to the church or to one's favorite charity in Jim's memory. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sue, and his former wife, Mary as well as his children, Deborah (Brian) Treadway of Colorado, Douglas (Kathleen) Summers of California, Jerretta (Chuck) Gilman of Florida, Jennifer Richard of Danville, Douglas (Wendy) Sisk of Danville, Lora (Jeff) Lockwood of Louisiana, Angela (Jeff) Norman of Ohio, Jeffrey (Karla) Summers of Danville; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, David Summers of Lebanon and a sister, Marcia Zimmerman of Bainbridge.
