Erica's Story

Text size

Our precious daughter, Erica Taylor Ellis, was granted her angel wings on November 13, 2016. Erica was born August 11, 1998, in Indianapolis to Tony and Patia (Haws) Ellis.
Erica was a senior at Avon High School and a second year student at PJ's School of Cosmetology. Erica made several friends throughout her school career and connected with many faculty members. Helping and interacting with the special needs classes was something she loved and treasured. Erica loved spending time with family and friends, being outdoors camping and going to the beach. She also had a deep love of animals and wanted to rescue every stray she found. Erica was a beacon of light and love. Her big, beautiful blue eyes and megawatt smile would light up a room when she entered. Her silly faces, infectious laugh and goofy playfulness brought joy to everyone around her. She had a big heart, loved deeply and put others' happiness before hers. Erica's decision to be a donor defines the giving, loving, caring individual she was. We know she is proud of the individuals she is helping and will live on through them. Erica will forever be in our hearts.
Erica is survived by her loving parents, Tony and Patia (Haws) Ellis of Avon; sister and brother-in-law Lindsay and Rick Parrish of Indianapolis; maternal grandmother Marsha Haws of Jamestown; paternal grandparents Roy and Sharon Ellis of Avon; great-grandmother Ethel Rush of Avon; and Aunts Sandy (Ellis) Lamour of Indianapolis and Linda Branam of Greenwood.
A celebration of life will be held in Erica's honor on Saturday, November 26, 2016, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Washington Township Pavilion Center, 435 Whipple Ln., Avon, IN 46123. The park is a place Erica loved and where she spent lots of time throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Indiana Donor Network, Riley Hospital for Children and the Epilepsy Foundation.
