Mr. Donald William Hitch, 80, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 28, 1937 in Clinton, Ind., a son of the late Leland O. and Edna J. (Alkire) Hitch.
On Aug. 30, 1959, he was married to Carol Ann (Kincaid) Hitch in Lizton. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1995. He then was married to Jean (Wolfe) Dickerson-Hitch on Jan. 1, 1996, at the New Brunswick Church of Christ; she survives.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Lizton High School and a 1959 graduate of Purdue University, earning a BS degree in Ag Engineering.
He retired from Rexnord in Indianapolis after 30+ years of employment. Don also worked as a grain and livestock farmer for many years.
He was a longtime member of New Brunswick Church of Christ where he held the positions of Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. Most recently he attended Plainfield Christian Church. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed wood-working in his free time.
Survivors include, wife, Jean Hitch of Jamestown; children, Diana L. (Doug) Dennis, Todd A. (Tami) Hitch, and Donna L. (Dean) Hagan all of Lizton; daughter-in-law, Jane Hitch of Danville; step children, Debbie (Danny) Jackson of Jamestown, David (Marla) Dickerson of Carmel, and Dianna (Mike) Ray of Finchville, KY; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Joed) Clark of Lizton, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Don was preceded in death by a son, Greg Alan Hitch.
Funeral Services will be held at New Brunswick Church of Christ, 6480 SR 39, in Lebanon, at noon on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Monday. Interment will follow services at K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana. Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon has been entrusted with his care.
