Clyde's Story

Clyde C. Wachter Jr. of Brownsburg went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2017. He was 89 and had formerly resided in Frederick, Maryland. He was born as the only child of Clyde Cleveland Wachter Sr. and Ruth Stine Wachter. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death in 2011. Mr. Wachter worked most of his adult life as a physical science technician at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST; formerly National Bureau of Standards) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, retiring in 1981, with 35 years of government service. He was awarded the Eugene Casson Crittenden Award in 1978 while working at NIST. Mr. Wachter is survived by three married sons Gary W. Wright (wife Ann) of Florence, Montana; Robin O. Wachter (wife Linda) of Pittsboro; and Chad J. Wachter (wife Karen) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; along with five grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11am Wed. March 8 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with calling from 10am to 11am. Interment will be at a later date at Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery, Woodsboro, Maryland.
