Clara "Jean" Erwin, 87, of Clayton, died Sept. 15, 2016. "Jean" was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Marion County to Herbert and Idena (Apple) Balay. She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. "Jean" married Paul A.C. Kelso, who preceded her in death. She married Burl Erwin on June 2, 1979. He survives. "Jean" was a bus driver for the Mill Creek School Corporation for 22 years, as well as being a waitress at the former Friendly Inn in Belleville, and the original Union 76 Truck Stop located at the Bellville/Monrovia exit on I-70 West. She was a member of the Unity Church of Indianapolis. "Jean" put family first and did a remarkable job of staying in touch with everyone. She took exceptional pride in her yard and garden, and was ready to "go fishin'" at the drop of a hat. Family gatherings were always large and were highlighted by euchre games. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 20 at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Clayton with visitation 4-8 p.m. Sept. 19. Burial - Clayton Cemetery. "Jean" is also survived by her children, Deborah (Buddy) Harris - Danville; Nancy Smith - Hutchison Island, Flo.; Steve (Terri) Kelso and Terry (Debbie) Kelso - Indianapolis; Jeff Kelso - Danville; Charlie (Kathy) Erwin - Fillmore; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
