Barbara Ellen (Reynolds) Henderson, 87, of Avon, IN, went to her heavenly home May 28th. Born July 26, 1929, she was the youngest of eight children of Chester and Viola (Stanley) Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, brothers Stanley, Joe and Chester Reynolds and sisters Mildred LaFoe, Catherine Cloncs, Betty Tetrick and Marjorie Gibbs.
Barbara graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1947. She married George (Jerry) Henderson at Pittsboro Christian Church on August 25, 1951 and he survives. They were parents of three children: Suzanne Hopkins (Henry), Jeff Henderson and Brian Henderson (Debbie); two granddaughters, Lauren Jerit (Michael) and Rachael Henderson; two step granddaughters, Tena and Tonya Hopkins; one great grandson and two step great grandsons. She was an aunt to 22 nieces and nephews.
Barbara hired into the data processing department of Allison Division of General Motors in 1947. She continued to work at Allison until she was transferred to EDS (GM) in 1985. She retired from EDS in 1991. She was a past Worthy Matron and a 50+ year member of Brownsburg O.E.S #266. Barbara was also a member of Clayton Christian Church.
Barbara's life revolved around her home and family. She was also an avid sports fan, especially loving to watch Larry Bird play and coach. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held at David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, on Wednesday, May 31 from 5 to 8 pm. Her funeral was held on Thursday, June 1 at 10 am at David A. Hall Mortuary. Burial was at the K of P Cemetery, Lizton.
